Growing up: How to Slow it Down

Do you think you’re getting old? I think I might have a remedy. A very potent elixir passed down for generations and I’m willing to share it with you for a small price.

Soon enough. Just soon. This would be you and your squad.

Nobody can deny the fact that they’re growing up. It’s inevitable. And while some people are 20 looking sweet 16, others are 18 looking 30. If you’re the latter, this post is for you. If you’re looking sweet 16, you can keep reading too. No knowledge is wasted knowledge.

If you don’t know, this is how people with knowledge are treated.

Ever met people who are most likely your age mates or younger than you are by just a little and they call you ’ma/sir’? Or have you met the people who say ’Look at your face it’s wrinkling.’ or ’you’re looking older.’? Then I’m sorry but, I have had news for you. Your body is ageing; and fast.

Besides the physical ageing, you could be one of those people who think too much of everything or your perspective of certain things in life differs from that of most people your age. Then, sorry to break it to you darling, but you’re ageing too.

You really shouldn’t worry about this though. Like I said, everyone is ageing. It’s inevitable. Some just do it faster than others. To be honest, I’m an example.

I’m an example of the mentally ageing people sha. I still look like I’m 10 physically. Quit looking at me like that.

I can’t count how many times I’ve been told I grew up to fast when it comes to thinking and expressing myself. Because of this,

And of course, my love for helping people,

I started to research.

And I ain’t talking all those anti-wrinkling care products.

I looked at the life of all those I know who are so very young – physically and mentally. Today, I’m choosing to share with you what I learnt but, on the condition that you hit the subscribe button as soon as you’re done with the post.

Deal? Deal!

Then here goes!

When I was younger, I used to love staying outside under the night sky, gazing at the few stars that covered the dark Lagos skies. When I was younger, being someone who grew up in a family house, I used to love sitting at the TV with all the other females in the house to watch Soap Operas.

Everyone has these ‘when I was younger’ stories. Majority of these stories are adorable and childlike just as they’re meant to be. Why did we stop? Because we’re growing up. Since that’s what this piece is against, I advice you go back to those things.

I’m not just telling you. I have practiced these things and when I do these things, I feel like a child again.

I can not stress the word ’THEM’ enough while I hope you know who the ’THEM’s of your life are. As you grow, basically everyone will expect a lot from you.

You should be doing…you ought to have…why haven’t you…shouldn’t you…yen yen yen

Your own life becomes less about who you are, what you want and what you want to do. Instead, it becomes more about who you should be, what you should get and what you should be. If you’re not aware, then I’ll tell you right now that those expectations are part of the reasons you probably look like shit. It’s up to you to make a stand for the things that make you happy and make you feel young at heart. Trust me it’s not going to be easy. They’ll come at you.

It’s up to you to make a stand like this when people try to force themselves and their expectations on you.

Waiting for a ’kind person’ or special ’anon’ to do even the smallest of things for us is kind of a trend now. Nobody wants to spend their own money on themselves with the mentality that that money can go into something more ’useful’. I really don’t understand why you earn a living if you’re not living with/by that earning.

Or don’t you think ’Anon’ has more ’useful’ things to do with his/her money too?

Sweetheart, it’s okay to safely indulge yourself and your cravings once in a while. You have days off? Take a vacation. You don’t have to go to Florida or Seychelles to call it a vacation. Excess cash after you deduct savings and investments? Buy something you can have fun with. Take risks, go on adventures, love life and watch it love you back. You’ll notice your soul and body getting younger.

You probably noticed that all my tips revolve around one thing. YOU. Hence, my conclusion is: DO YOU love; as long as it feels right.

•Do you think you’re growing up way too fast or you’re still good?

•Do you have any when I was younger stories?

•Are there people who’s expectations you hav, love; as long as it feels right.

•How often do you indulge yourself? (Be honest)

I’d love to hear from you in the comments section and don’t forget my price too.

Let’s be vocal together.💜
